We are excited for Dr. Seuss week. Mrs. Kelley and Mrs. McCrary have been working hard to get things ready.
The week of March 2nd -6th will be packed full of fun activities for Westville Elementary students! We will celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a different Seuss theme each day.
Friday will end our week with “Read Across America Day” which is celebrated all over the U.S.
We will have “celebrity readers” in classrooms, a book exchange for PrK-4th grade students in the library and maybe even a visit from “Cat in the Hat!” We want this to be an exciting and memorable week for our students and we would love to have lots of participation as we celebrate Dr. Seuss week!
Below are the themes for each day.
Mixed-up Monday-wear miss matched clothes
Top Hat Tuesday-wear a hat
Wacky Wednesday- wear wacky socks
Thing 1 Thing 2 Thursday- dress Twinkie with someone
Funday Friday- dress as your favorite Seuss character or a character from your favorite book
(prizes will be awarded for the best dressed characters)
The book exchange will take place on Friday. We are asking for each student from PreK-4th grade to bring a gently used book where they will exchange for another one. We are asking that they do no bring books that have been discarded or purchased from other libraries just because it confuses the kids, especially the younger ones. These books can be either brought to the library or turned in to their classroom teacher who will then bring to us. There will be extra books for those students who do not bring one.
