Have you had the opportunity to meet our school Therapy Dog in Training, Buddy? His Handler, Westville School Resource Officer Judy Morris, has been working with Buddy to provide emotional support for our students and staff across the campus. While Buddy is still "In Training", he is increasing his daily interaction in classrooms and in the hallways of our school. Officer Judy explained Buddy is currently working on impulse control. She described lower elementary students helping by "air petting" him (wave at him) when they walk passed him in the hallways, while upper elementary students help by giving commands during sudden movements, hollering, and when multiple students are around. Westville staff have enjoyed seeing Buddy soak up belly rubs, walking the halls, and continue to fine tune his skills. We are so excited for the support that Buddy will continue to bring as his training continues and returns next year with his handler!
