🎉 Staff Spotlight of the Week: Arlene Harp! 🎉
We're excited to spotlight Mrs. Arlene Harp, one of our amazing second-grade teachers, as she celebrates her 32nd year of teaching this grade!
What’s your favorite part of the job?
"The curiosity, eagerness, and sense of wonder on the students' faces as they fully engage in a project or activity."
If you could give advice to your younger self when you first started, what would it be?
"If you stay in education long enough, you will get the privilege to teach the children of former students."
Arlene and her husband, both proud Westville graduates, have been married for 46 years. They raised three children, all of whom graduated from Westville, and are blessed with 10 grandchildren with a great-grandchild on the way! Arlene is especially proud to have taught six of her grandchildren in her classroom.
As Arlene wraps up a rewarding career in education, we’re honored to celebrate her during her retirement year. Thank you, Mrs. Harp, for your years of dedication, passion, and the lasting impact you’ve made on generations of students. You will be missed dearly! 💛📚

🏀 3rd Grade Basketball Highlights! 🏀
Our 3rd-grade basketball teams had an exciting speed competition this past week! ⏱️ We’d like to recognize the players who completed the most drills in 25 seconds—great job, everyone!
We also held a free throw competition, where Scarlett McDonald and Elias Vaughn faced off in a thrilling shoot-off. Elias Vaughn came out on top as the free throw champion! 🎯🏆
Congratulations to all the players for their hard work, determination, and sportsmanship! 👏🏽🙌🏽

🚨 Parent Reminder! 🚨
If your child is feeling sick, please keep them home to rest and recover. 💙 Let’s work together to keep all our students healthy, happy, and thriving at school!
Be sure to check out the "I Need to Stay Home if..." picture for clear guidelines on when to keep your child home.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone! 🌟

Mr. Yeager and Mrs. Barber rewarded some of the 8th-grade English students with a fun day at the bowling alley! These students worked hard to improve test scores and meet reading requirements! Work hard, play hard—JACKET PRIDE! 💜💛

📣 Special Visitor in Kindergarten! 🐝🎶
Coach Rector stopped by Mrs. Unger’s Kindergarten class yesterday to share some fun facts about our beloved mascot and school song! The students had voted on what fun thing to learn about and they voted to learn more about the school!
Did you know?
📅 In 1927, we got our first mascot named Yell’ O Jacket, and our very first school song.
📰 Over time, local newspapers started adding a 'w' to the name, turning it into Yellowjackets—and it stuck!
🎨 Our Yellowjacket mascot has had several different designs over the years. Coach Rector brought a 1948 yearbook to show one of the older designs!
🎵 The school song we sing today is the second one in our history.
Coach Rector has a treasure trove of cool stories and history about our school, and the kids loved learning all about it! 💛🖤
